For Home and Country: Reno County in the Great War

Commemorating 100 years since the United States Entrance into World War I

 

The Great War had a catastrophic impact worldwide. No one was left unaffected by the war, not even Reno County, This illuminating exhibit will take you on a journey through the experience of Reno County citizens both at home and overseas during World War I.  You will see many items used by soldiers including uniforms, equipment, and documents. You can also see souvenirs Reno County Soldiers brought back with them after the war. 

Featured artifacts in this exhibit include a German Mauser C96 automatic pistol and a “stahlhelm” or steel helmet with “stirnpanzer” or armor plate.
