The Reno County Museum offers a wide variety of programs. They fall into two categories: education and recreation.

Our education programs are designed to engage children and adults while learning about Reno County’s history. Examples of these include History of Reno County, Toys and Games, Women of Reno County, and Carey Salt Company.

Our recreation programs offer members of our community a chance to come have fun at the Reno County Museum. Examples of these include Chalk Fest, Old Fashioned Christmas, Public Ghost Hunts, and Ice Cream Social.

Please contact us for more information or to tailor a program for you or your organization.

Show us your artistic talents during our chalk art contest! All ages, including adults, can enter and we give away some awesome summer prizes!

Ice Cream Social

Let us treat you to ice cream! Museum staff, volunteers, and board members team up to dish out some free ice cream in the museum’s courtyard!

Old Fashioned Christmas

Old Fashioned Christmas is all about having a blast making festive holiday crafts with volunteers and the staff at the Reno County Museum. There is a small admission fee of $1.50 per child.

 Public Ghost Hunts

We partner with Wichita Paranormal Research Society (WPRS) a few times a year to give the public a chance to search for the paranormal inside our museum. This event also serves as a fundraiser for the museum. All proceeds from tickets sales go towards helping the Reno County Museum achieve its mission to collect, preserve, interpret, and share Reno County History.

“Boo”seum Spook Walk

Held in October, the “Boo”seum Spook Walk is where you will meet ghosts of Reno County’s Past as they tell their stories in the darkened exhibits at the Reno County Museum. Make sure you wear your costume and bring a bag for treats! Our ghosts like to give out treats instead of tricks! There is a small admission fee of $2.50 per child. Adults accompanying children get in free.

Thanks HCC theater students for making our “Boo”seum Spook Walk amazing!
